WHAT THE SELLER LOVES
When we found our home at 9702 Longview Drive, what first attracted me were the spacious yard, the quiet street, and the character of the house. What we love about our home is the view from all of the windows. They each have something spectacular to see. One bedroom has a direct view of the cherry blossom tree, another has a view of the dogwood, and the kitchen has a view out to the bright yellow forsythia that brings cardinals every year to our home.
Also, I love to spend time with my family in the family room and dinners in the dining room. The space is very welcoming.
UPGRADES TO OUR HOME
We have had many upgrades since we have lived here. We put a bedroom into the basement; we replaced the old siding on the house with brand new siding. This included getting a new side garage door, new gutters, and new shutters. We upgraded the refrigerator, the dishwasher, and the washing machine. We upgraded the electrical work in the basement, got brand new wood floors in the foyer, the hallway, the kitchen, and the half bath. We also re-sanded and stained the wood floors throughout the house. We even upgraded the insulation on the air conditioning ducts. Our utility costs are better than we have experienced before. I love that we have a combination of gas and electric. The gas really helps keep the heating bill as low as possible in the winter. We employ BGE for our utilities and the county manages the water.
Valleymede is a very friendly neighborhood. When I was new to the neighborhood (and the state of Maryland), we had a snow storm and I was nervous about it. I sent a message out to the neighborhood asking for advice and I had a neighbor come to my door to give me her phone number and reach out if I needed anything. Every year Valleymede gets together at the neighborhood park, Cypressmede, to throw a Halloween parade, a Fourth of July parade, and even a fun run for a local charity!
WE LOVE ELLICOTT CITY
Some of the things we love about living in Ellicott City is the history of the area. We love going to Main Street and enjoying the restaurants and shops they have to offer. Ellicott City has an ideal location. It is conveniently located and accessible. Some of our favorite restaurants are Sakura, Glory Days, White Oak, Nora's Kabob, and Honey Pig. The grocery store we use most often is Giant but I like to go to Sprouts as well. We moved to Howard County because it is a great place for families and the schools are top notch. The community center in Ellicott City is the best in the entire county. It was a great recreational space. Ellicott City has the best public library in the area. The schools are amazing and there are some fun places to visit. For example, we love going to the Pottery place and Tours les Jours has great coffee (and baked goods!). We love visiting Clark's Farm nearby and going to all of the local parks that are fun and well maintained.
